Mickey Mouse themed Solar farm. Even Disney knows how important taking advantage of Solar to conserve on energy is.The facility will provide renewable solar power to the Reedy Creek Improvement District, and ultimately to Disney World. The complex will sprawl across 270 acres on the western edge of Disney’s property with 518,000 solar-panel modules. It’s expected to create up to 300 jobs during construction, which is anticipated to start by late spring and be completed by year’s end. That compares to the Hidden Mickey solar farm at 5 megawatts, which is about enough to power up to 1,000 homes. The Mickey-shaped solar farm is about 22 acres, part of a 15-year agreement that allows Duke Energy to build, own and operate the farm on Disney’s land.
